Summer College Application Boot-Camp Program
This grant supported Mamaroneck High School’s first-ever two-day Summer College Application Boot Camp, giving 60 rising seniors a head start on their college applications this past August.
Initiated by Dr. Charles Sampson and Dr. Jeffrey Moore and led by MHS counselor Greg Cuddy, the program guided students through essential parts of the admissions process—from essay writing and résumé building to college matching and financial aid. The boot camp placed special emphasis on supporting first-generation college applicants and students who benefit from targeted, school-based guidance.
MHS English teachers and school counselors collaborated with admissions representatives from Syracuse University and Iona University to provide personalized, hands-on support. MSF grant funds covered staff stipends for planning and implementation, as well as materials and expenses for guest admissions specialists.
A rising senior participant shared: “I was able to start and confidently fill out, and navigate the Common App. As the application season starts, I feel confident, prepared, and even excited about submitting my applications to schools.” Greg Cuddy noted, “The students were engaged, focused, and driven.”
