Bringing Literacy to Life: Research-Based Puppets in Classrooms
This grant provides animal puppets to Kindergarten classrooms across the District, aimed at improving literacy skills and fostering empathy and sharing among young learners. The puppets are used as teaching tools for phonics, syllables, read-alouds, comprehension, and independent reading, creating a multisensory learning experience. Research from the Early Childhood Education Journal and Cambridge University supports the use of puppets in classrooms, showing increased student participation, better behavior, and more open communication.
